ADVOCACY ALERT!

Georgia Senate Bill 42 (SB 42) would remove student discipline from the school climate star rating indicator on our school’s report card. Gwinnett SToPP successfully advocated for the inclusion of student discipline in the indicator to make sure that a student’s entire school experience was considered when determining school climate. Georgia’s children are not learning if they are being pushed out of the classroom. Tracking student discipline allows the state to provide resources and supports to our schools that are struggling in this area. Student discipline is a major part of the classroom environment and academic achievement, we cannot sweep this problem under the rug, we must address it.
